I have 2 props, both the same, both 2 blade 9 7/8r11, and both with spun hubs. I will have to mail off my 2 props to a shop 2 hrs away. It will cost $40 each to repress plus shipping, basically a hundred dollar bill.

I have found some info on another 2 different replacement props to fit my 8 tooth spline Mercury 1967 20hp motor. There is a 9 7/8r13 2-blade cupped prop and a 9 7/8r9 3 blade prop in additon to the standard 9 7/8r11 2-blade that the motor came with.

I have checked on getting a tach so I can do some testing and was debating on getting one or both of the other choices in addition to getting the two I have repressed since the cost of the brand new props are only $56 bucks each.

Any thoughts on which direction to go with the two alternatives. I have my 20hp on a 14 ft Jon boat with some addition weight in a wooden casting deck, huge deep cycle trolling battery, and large cooler(usually full of something). When I am by myself the performance is an 8.5-9 out of 10 IMHO but with another person up front the performance drops to about a 6.5 out of 10. I could care less about out of the hole. All I am concerned about is top speed across that big ole lake.

Re: Choosing Different Props for 20hp Mercury

I ordered 2 different props today. One was a 9 7/8r11 3-blade prop and the other was a 9 7/8r9 3-blade prop. Keep in mind that the original prop on this motor is a 9 7/8r11 2-blade.

Could anyone speculate on how these might react on the motor. They didn't carry the original 2-blade. What is the difference in the 2 blade and the 3 blade with the same diameter and pitch?
