Are there any Chopper or Cleaver style props that will work for a older model Evinrude engine. I know these props can produce some awesome speeds and was just curious if I could benefit from one of them.
Later:
Jason

Re: Chopper Style Props?

are you a racer? do you do Poker runs? if no then don't get one! here why:

1. you will need a low water pick up

2. you willget hooked and spend thousands on new gears to get just a "little bit" more RPM's

3. they are terrible in reverse

4. no shock hub

5. cheapest one I know of is a 2 bladed cleaver for a 90 jonson that is 1500.00 and made to spin at 5000 rpm

6 the most pricy will cost you 26 thousand

Thanks Sloopy,
You've pretty much made my mind up on that one. I'll just stick with what I've got. I run a drag car now, so I don't need to start trying to drag race the boat. LOL.
Later:
Jason

If you are still talking about your V4 -- yes there are several chopper and cleaver style props available. But at 4900 you cant take advatage of the technology.

Cost? I have several 3 blade style in different pitches that I have for sale for 150.00 ea. I have a 4 blade over the hub round ear Mazco that I would sell for 500.00.

Yes, they all have rubber hubs and work well in reverse. Let's get your rig up and running with what you have before you spend any money on props.

Have you got a jackplate yet?

Re: Chopper Style Props?

Dhadley,
No, I have not gotten a Jack-Plate yet. I did raise the motor up and have not tryed it yet to see if it helped. I'm hoping to get my prop back from the shop today or monday. I sent it off to have it polished. I know you told me to lower the motor back down and try the prop like it was to eliminate that unknown. If I can get the rpm's up like I need to be then I may be interested in one of those props.
Later:
Jason

Re: Chopper Style Props?

I just talked to them awhile ago and they said it came back painted. I wanted the thing polished from the start with. So now he is going to have to send it back to get polished. I'm so agrevated right now. Ive got other props to use but I will not be able to tell if the changes I made worked or not without using the same prop to go off of.
Later:
Jason
