chould this be a problem

first off thanks to all of you i love iboats you all give great hellp . now for my problem i have some engine running problems with my 89 force 50. the engine just started giving me some problems. there a some wires cuming out from under flywheel i think yellows and some browns there are 2 brown wires with a ? color in them that are diconected and cant be fixed i would like to know are thay for battery charging because the engine runs. thanks all

Brown is likely from the trigger, is it running well? A picture would help greatly

There should be no brown wires on a 1989 50 hp motor.

THere should be 2 yellow wires that connect to the terminal strip, then on to feed the cd module.

Also 2 green with yellow stripe that feed the rectifier, to charge the battery.

Guessing that someone has used some non original parts over the years.

ok but it does run so it must be the charging wires and im 99% that thay are brown will thay cause a problem

Well test at the battery and see if its charging. Worst case is leaving you dead in the water somewhere with a dead battery. If they are charging wires then reconnect to rectifier. Test battery again and make sure your not over charging.
