I have a 1972 chrysler 105. I am a car guy and this is my first boat. i just rebuilt the lower unit and i'm trying to find out if i have proper flow through the powerhead. I get a flow out the port on the back of the powerhead at idle but it is not a solid stream. I also get a fair amount of water out the exhaust(hole in trim tab)

I haven't been able to get any real help from my seloc manual. Does any one have any ideas?

It should sputter out with the exaust.
To test if all is well, allow engine to run for a minute or two, and carefully touch the block by the cylinder head with one finger at first..If it doesn't burn, see if you can hold it there for 2 seconds without removing it..(one thousnad one,one thousand two). If you can,the block is running cool enough.Repeat higher on the block. The block should warm-up EVENLY,top-to-bottom.
If not, you have plugged ports. No biggie, but you will need port plate gaskets and possably a head gasket, and go in and clean the corrosion out of the cooling system as best as you can. This is normal on any engine of that vintage, and especially,if it has been run in saltwater, and never had the head or exaust manifold removed.
