Chrysler 105 Hp Staring

I have a 105n hp engine model 1057be, serial# 1033
every time i try to strt it cold for the first time i pump up my primer, turn it over for a few seconds, the butterflies close like they should be doing then when i try to start it i have to put my hand over one of the carbs to get it running. when i do that the carb that i have put my hand over drips out a lot of gas, once running i can start and stop it with not problem as long as its has not sit for over an hour or so then i have to start the whole prosess over again, can you please help

As with any chrysler engine, to cold start, you must with the control handle in neutra pull out the chrome button or lever near the rear of the control handle pivot. This disables the shift. Now, pust the control handle as far forward as it will go. This is cold start/fast idle/warm-up position. Now, the engine should satrt reliably. If not, it is time to clean the carbs as not enough fuel is being delivered in choke.
