I bought the boat last year. The first few times i took it out it did fine. Then all of a sudden it would not open up and plane out. I parked it for the winter. This spring I added a power tilt and trim, changed the plugs and wires. I checked my fuel tank out because the fuel hand wouldnt work, the tank was rusted over. I took the metal tank out and replaced it with plastic fuel tanks. The first time out after all the modifications it ran fine. I messed up and added the fuel from the old metal tank to my plastic tanks. I took it out and it ran good until i shut it down and began fishing. When i started it back up and began to run to another spot the motor would not open up and plane out. I have flushed my tanks, cleaned the filter ect. It is still giving me the same problem, it will not open up and plane out. Can you help me? I was also woundering the year of my motor, the vin is 7418. 1359 hd is above the serial. Another question, the water pump just spits a mist out could this contribute to my problem?

I dont have the specs for your motor but:
If you have good spark and compression then your problem is prabably dirty carbs. You should go through the fuel pump as well.Be sure all suspect fuel is out of the system.
Dont start any repairs without a manual.
They are available here as well as a number of other spots, even the library.

Jeff...prolly added some flakes of rust to your new tanks so it would be a good idea to take the filter screen out and clean. Located on intake side of fuel pump behind plastic housing. You also might need to remove the bowls from the carbs and dump out any debris. The brass nut that holds the bowls on is the high speed jet so clean out the passages with air if possible. This is a good time to do some routine maintenance,,,such as changing fuel pump diaphram, water pump, and a general inspection of hoses and wiring...just some Thoughts
