Re: chrysler 1975 90hp

After setting it to 32 degrees BTDC at WOT, check the distributor cap for carbon tracks and arcing.

Firing order is 123 with top cylinder as #1

Be sure it is not set too lean on the carbs--this will cause backfiring too.

Yes! ALL Chrysler distributors are the same body--the only difference is that earlier ones had a neutral interlock switch mounted high on them and only a single terminal in the side for point wires. Later distributors did not have the switch--it was moved to the shift linkage--and the body had two terminals for the electric eye inside. The eye used the same screw holes as the points did for mounting so if your 75 has electronic distributor, then all you would need to do is drill another hole for the second terminal and swap over the shaft, shutter, and rotor assembly. Simple job. Of course, the three and four cylinder caps are different, but both fit on the same body, and a four cylinder rotor has foor shutters or four lobes on the cam. Buy again, the shaft assembly is directly swappable with no mods to the body.

If your distributor has points, then a direct swap with no modifications necessary can be done.

Re: chrysler 1975 90hp

To all out there I picked up a 1973 70hp chrysler with points dist.
I then put it on my 1975 90hp, pulled my cdi unit off and put an excel coil, condenser and balance resister on it. This was the bast thing i could have done it runs great now, and was a lot cheaper. :D
