Chrysler 20 hp outboard Drive Shaft

My Drive Shaft to my 1969 Chrysler 20 HP outboard broke at the top where the pinion is. Does anyone know where I could find another and what could have caused this? I heard I would possibly be able to get it welded back on but I would rather a new one.

Welcome, try e-bay maybe Craigslist for the parts.
Or Google marine salvage yards.
Or try Valley Sales in Prudenville, Mi. On the net.
I wouldn't really trust a welded shaft.(my opinion)

also what should the compression be for my cylinders. I have them both at just over 90 psi
