Chrysler 45

hi, just bought a Chrysler 45, not sure of year , where is the serial number on these engines? also it has "Magnapower" ignition, when were these introduced ? Just got to order a manual now to cover it once i know the year of manufacture

Look in front part of motor. Just in front of carb, in front of choke solenoid, you should see an ID plate. Will need the model number to tell you the year.

OK, got the engine home today (Thursday) and found the plate with the details on as follows

MOD :459H8G
Serial No, :2027

hopefully you can tell me some more about it ?

Hi Neal
Go to maxrules.com, go to sub title Tech Specifications. Under that you will see model year guide. There you will find all models, HP and years of Chrysler/Force engines.I tried to look your model number up but it seems to have all models but yours. Maybe the 8 is a 9 or one of your numbers is not legible and you are saying the wrong number or letter. But if you go to where I am saying I am sure you will find the year.

Serial No, :2027

Could be 459(9 indicates standard,elec start,alternator,Magnapower.H8 is probably HB year code for 71 ,if I understand the system correctly.
Don't do any trouble shooting without a manual ignition is somewhat delicate and some parts are nearly impossible to find.
