I have an outboard I picked up. It's a Chrysler 55hp.
Wondering if someone can give me more information on the motor.
Chrysler 55
Model: 555HA
Serial: X4949
Need to know incase I have to order parts.
The guy bought it from hit the key and it popped right off. Switched into and out of gear easily.
Only thing questionable is the charging. He said he never used the engine. Just got it from someone he knows. Said he doesn't know if it charges. Not a huge deal, but it very nice to have.
Anyone have a diagram for the charging circuit or how to test to see if it's charging.
Edit....
I also found this to be a long shaft. Measures about 23 inches from tansom bracket to cavitation plate. I have to either extend the transom or shorten the motor. I've read there's a water tube extension that will slop off. But the drive shaft will not work. That will have to be replaced.
I have an older Chrylser 20hp motor. Can I use the drive shaft from that one? I'm assuming no but have to ask.
