chrysler 55 sparks once then stops sparking

I have a chrysler 55 magnapower model:559h9l serial:4651 with the electronic ignition that wont start, i have taken the plugs out and earthed them to check for a spark and it sparks once then doesnt spark again after that, has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this problem?

I got a 55 also but, mine has the old magneto ignition. Try giving a little more info-like the year and possibly the serial no. Then you will get some good responses from the experts around here.
