Chrysler 6 HP points

Was replacing the points on my 1978-79 Chrysler 6 hp and noticed that when rotating the crankshaft/cam the point (rub) is not always in contact with the cam. I was under the impression from working on other motors that the 'rub' was always in contact with the cam. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong. These are the correct and identical points that I removed. I have the gap set (020). I did notice that the cam has wear marks about an inch or so before and after top dead center; points may not be in contact with the cam on a continual basis.

If I understand you correctly, your saying your use to seeing the rub place on the points stay in contact with the cam. I would say that should not happen, reason being is if it did then anything (spec of dirt or crud) could open the points and cause a misfire

Did I understand correctly?

Thanks alldoge and jerryjerry: You've answered my question. I can now close the motor up. Your help and input is very much appreciated.
