I have a Chrysler Magnapower 85 Ignition
Model#857hd
I have removed every bolt and shifting linkage I can think of on the lower half and still can not get it to drop. What could I be doing wrong. I have done this with other motors and have had no problem. I have even removed everything from a spare motor (identical) and have only the drive line with the pump on it hanging out. Is it seazed up or what?

Re: Chrysler impeller replacement

There should be 3 bolts per side. 1 up the exhaust snout. For a total of 7.

Then d/c the shifter by removing the cotter pin and the pin.

TMD

Hi Richard,

Isn't that something? I have exactly the same motor you have (identical model #'s: 857HD).

I took mine off a few months ago. As TMD said, as long as you have the shift link disconnected and that exhaust bolt out (along with the 3 obvious ones on each side), it should slide right off. In fact, I was surprised when it about fell off mine, after I had removed that exhaust bolt.

Shane

Re: Chrysler impeller replacement

I took the six bolts out, 3 on each side and the exhaust bolts and disconnected the shifting linkage.
Can the drive line become seazed in the power head?
Thanks for the information.

Electricchicken--- Just to clear it up: After you remove the exhaust snout, then you must reach up inside and remove the hidden bolt at the tail end of the lower unit.

Elysia: You may not realize it but it is bad manners to hijack a thread. If you have a problem, go to the top of the page where it says start a new post. people will then be glad to help.
