I have a 1980 55 hp Chrysler outboard that I am replacing the lower unit seals over the winter due to water in the oil when I drained it in the fall. I have it all taken apart and cleaned up and have the new parts ready to rebuild, however, I am somewhat concerned as when I look through the manual it talks a lot about using special seal installers such as for the driveshaft seal, prop seal, shift rod seal, etc. which I obviously dont have these tools and they aren't available anyways. So is this going to be an issue when I am putting it all back together or are they ways around it? what's the purpose of these "special tools"? Also any other tips you have are appreciated as this is my first time working on a lower unit and gear housing.
