Hello, I have a 1970 Chrysler 20 horse ouboard I picked up for a 14ft 1448 Lowe Jon Boat. The motor runs great and gets on plane with just me, but once a load is in the boat it begins to cavitate at high throttle. The prevent this I have to go slower and keep the boat off plane. I have adjusted the motor height and tilt with limited success. I have been running in the river and was told to have to prop cupped to prevent this. I have the factory 8 inch prop on right now. What suggestions do you have, and what cost am I looking at to have the propped cupped or pitch changed?

Re: Chrysler Prop

I wonder if your prop hub is shot.Prop may have what they call a spun hub.A prop shop can repair
it with a new hub.Symptoms are very similar to cavitation. Good luck.

First you may check prop suppliers to know what is available for your motor.

Then it takes some kind of investigation to know what to recommend. At least info on your boat size/weight, hull design and what rpm you acchieve at WOT.

You can find further if you use the search and look for 'Wisdom of propellers'.
