I have a near pristine model 52179B Chrysler Sea King 7.5 hp engine that needs my touch. Previous owner broke and removed/lost the entire throttle assy. mid-gearing and engine support mount for it trying to start the engine. But before I decide on changing it to a motorcycle throttle control.......I ask,
1) Can I drop the foot easily after unbolting the shift lever without something tricky happening to things like any water tubing getting messed up? I need to check the impellers condition.
2) One of the ignition modules is showing multiple(3) sparks at the plug near TDC of its particular piston. I have isolated it to just the module and not the trigger coils operation by switching the trigger lead to the good module. The bad module has part of a marking that says ...509.... and is original. I need a substitute preferably used....to see if the engine is in a running condition before I go further.
I have done restoring in the past on Mercury engines so I am wary of just jumping in on a guess....It can bite you bad!!
Tnx. Larry
