I am now searching for an outboard for a Chrysler shallow hull conqueror. I have had a hard time finding an original 135 hp motor. However, there are several Chrysler 105hp motors available. Will this motor provide adequate power to push this boat? Does anyone have any advice on which size Chrysler outboard is best? I would also like to know what the expected top speed should be for each size of motor. Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Chrysler Shallow Hull Conqueror - Motor Selection

That's a nice hull. I believe there are a few powered by a 105 but in my opinion, the maximum power the hull is rated for is the best.

However: Go over to The Chrysler Crew (Chrysler Marine Website) and ask Dave "Hurrikain" Kain or Franz Buddenberg. These guys have both owned shallows. Thursday night at 9PM Eastern time there is a chat room, or you can just ask on the questions forum. Look at the photos of the NATIONALS--I believe there were a couple of shallow vees there.

If you join the crew, you can also access the photo gallery and see a number of shallows.

Depending upon your location, you may also want to consider trailering your shallow to the NATIONALS held during the summer out in the center of the country.

Edit: If I owned one and it was rated for 135, I would have no qualms about hanging a 140 on the back---easier engine to find
