Re: chrysler spark problems

There is only one set of magnets in the flywheel, so if you get spark on one cylinder, the flywheel is OK.
Double check the gap on the points ten look or a short in one of the wires. Look at the brown pair (kill wire)to see if the one on the non firing cylinder is shorted to ground.

If your engine has a kill switch Built in under the flywheel, check that too.

Re: chrysler spark problems

I have checked the point gap totally removed the kill wire and have also even went as far as switching the coils around still just fires on the one side. When I removed the flywheel to change the points originally I did the old pry bar and hammer method you think that could of messed it up?

Re: chrysler spark problems

1. Did you try switching points and condensers while troubleshooting (even though the points and condensers are new)??
2. What gap are you setting the points at and at what point of the rotation ??

3. Is your point?s cam lob showing an arrow dictating the rotating direction?

4. I feel it?s a small bug but where is the question.

5. I c/n see your method of removing causing a problem unless it took some excess hammering to rem it. I used that method a few times until I noticed some damage to the nut. I have used a puller with ease since.

Good Luck. jow

I been setting the points at .020 it has a mark on the cam that indicates the high point i believe i dont think i have tried to switch the points and condensor around i will try to get that a shot and see what happens. Yes it has an arrow to indicate the rotation thank for the help I will let you know if I get it resolved by switching points.

Re: chrysler spark problems

My old points and condensers have worked well since 1985. I have cleaned the points 2-3 times when I noticed hesitation out of the hole (LOL) or on open water with the 1970 35 HP Chrysler. Good Job!! jow
