I have a 60hp Chyrsler Model# 609HA Serial# 8540. I have had power issues with it under load for over a year. It worked fine so far this year until last weekend. I was out on the lake full throttle and it slowly died down and i could only get maybe 5-10mph out of it. I tried pumping the primer and it made it almost die out! I checked all my wiring and it appeared to be alright. Just to let you know it has 2 new coils, plugs, USED Prestolite ign system (had the Magnapower II), carbs rebuilt last year, fuel pump rebuilt last year. I am at a loss. I readjusted the floats per the manual and it made no difference. The primer bulb seems to be holding pressure. Can anyone give me an idea? Oh yes, the compression was checked out and i am running middle 140's in both cylinders. LOOKING FOR ADVICE.

Sounds like you lost spark on one cylinder. Do a spark test.

Re: Chrysler Under Load Power Issue??

My 85hp Chrysler w/ Prestolite does the same thing. It drops a cyl under load when hot. The trigger seems to be the culprit. Try wiggling the wires going to the trigger while the engine is struggling. Mine would pick up and run fine if I held the wires just right. I cant find a bad wire so I'm trying to find a trigger.
