Cigarette Lighter Power

I have an Eagle Fishmark 480 that came with the boat I bought. I want to move it up to the bow and run it off of the Sonar adapter built into the trolling motor. My question is there is a positive and negative cable for power, can I splice those into a replacement cigarette Lighter connector plug? There is already one at the front of my boat and they sell the standard replacement plugs at my local store. Any concerns here?

cig lighters are now called "12 power sockets". You can plug into the one at the front of the boat to power the fishfinder with out a problem.
