clacking sound?

As previous posts stated. Motor sat for 13 years. I have pulled the carbs, dropped the bowls, thoroughly cleaned all parts and ports. Reinstalled the carbs and adjusted the slow idle jets due to hard starting and idle. Idles, I think rough, in the driveway. Starts with fast idle start engaged. Will start without fast idle if prime is used. Took it out to the lake today for first "Sea trials" Start, no idle in neutral. Start, idle with fast idle engaged. Ran in gear very well. Plenty of power. 60 HP pushing a Tracker TX-17. 6 gallons of fuel has been treated with full can of Sea Foam. Got it back in the driveway and will start and idle, no problem. Am I running too rich? Fair amount of blue smoke. Not spraying any oil out of the exhaust. Figure the Sea Foam is doing it's job.

Adjusted slow idle. Can't get it to smooth out. Noticed a clacking sound up top (I think fly wheel but can't be for sure). Sound mimics changes in RPM. Can anyone give me some advice?!?!?!?!

Re: clacking sound?

Probably the idle is alittle lean, thats why you need to prime to start, but it is impossiable to adjust the idle speed or mixture without being in the water, in gear. Some of the older flywheels the flex oplate on the top would crack, see if the outside will move by turning it back and forth a little --Bob
