my motor will not get over 1100rpm before it stalls, no matter how much throttle i give it. i figure the carbs are clogged up since the previous owner rarely used this motor and didn't put stabilizer in the fuel for storage. i have already cleaned the spring on the chock primer solenoid which had some varnish on it.
so, my question is, how hard is it to clean those carbs (it is a v4 with 2 carbs)? i have the carb kits ordered, and i have the schematic from the browns point website and i would prefer to do it myself if possible. is it something i should even attempt with my little experience in marine mechanics?

I've not done a carb overhaul on that model but take it slowly , sketch or photo bits in situ ( love digital camera's) and be methodical in cleaning and you'll be fine. When you have a carb in bits look to clean all the little holes and drillings. They are not there for nothing , a drilled hole goes somewhere and does something. You will need a manual to do the the "link and synch" to set the throttle positions correct.

If you don't have access to an air compressor buy a can of air at Radio Shack and blow out the orifices after cleaning with carb cleaner.

You will need more air than that. I just went thru this on my 1988 Yamaha 130 and NAPA has a gallon of carb cleaner for $22, worked great!

Thanks for the info!
There are no Suzuki outboard dealers in the immediate area, so I haven't been able to get a hold of a manual for it. Is it really necessary to have it synchronize those carbs?

Any motor with multiple carbs will have a link and synch setup. Its well worth having as it contains a wealth of information brownspoint.com will get you the oem version. Clymers are ok but cover lots of models and always fail to be specific just when you need it.
