i just bought a used evenrude/johnson metal 5 gal fuel tank. It had about a gallon of old mixed gas in it. I dumped it out, but the tank has that varnish smell to it. how do I clean it up, get all the staining out of the inside, i'd like to get it looking almost like new inside. Thanks for any replies.

Dump some thinner in the tank and a bunch of roofing nails.
Give it a real good shake and the roofing nails will scratch and loosen the varnish.Do this a few times and your tank will be like new.
