I pulled the rear portion of the floor off my boat to replace some livewell hoses that seem to be leaking and was going to clean the gas tank as long as I had the boat apart.

Only problem is that the tank is glassed in place, looks like I'd have to cut it out of there to remove it. It aluminum...original 1989 vintage. Leave it be or does anyone have any bright ideas?

Thanks!

Are you having a problem with debris coming from the tank, or excessive water accumulation that needs cleaned??

If not I would leave well enough alone.

But thats just my opinion fwiw.

I have a similar issue in my 1978 model. Hoping someone will chime in with an answer.

Nah not having any problems that I know of but since it's premix (force 150) I figure theirs bound to be a nice layer of sludge down there after 22 years. Plus this is probably going to be the one time I have the boat this taken apart in the next 10 years so wanted to do everything I could right now.

Of course it looks like the bayliner engineers though preventative maintenance meant prevent the boat owner from doing maintenance :)
