anyone familiar with this job ? any tips or links for the gaskets? I also can't seem to get the idle right and am always
turning the 6 different screws to try and get it right and really have no idea what I'm doing . please help !

Does it fire up if you put a little fuel down each carb?

You should be able to fire her up even with a dirty carb, I would be taking the fuel line off to start and check that the magic juice is flowing, then checking my spark. If all of these are ok I would be starting checking for leaks (spray some washing up liquid and water over the gaskets and bits). Unless you have changed any settings more than a bit I would probably be looking for leaks etc before stripping the carb, and even then would start with a good spray of carb cleaner, both still and when turning over to draw some through before removing them. Get it running .... then take the carbs off and strip them to make it run better :)

How long have you owned this boat?

If you just bought it, you need to realize that these carbs don't have a choke, so starting it isn't the easiest thing.
What's your starting procedure?
Have you checked the basics before you started fiddling with the carbs?

Basics include;
-Compression.
-Ignition timing.
-Condition of tune-up stuff, I.E.; points/cap/rotor/plugs/wires/fuel filter/etc.
-Ignition dwell.

You have to start with the basics of diagnosis before your start assigning blame. All the above mentioned can make starting the engine difficult, despite their lack of mention in other posts... ;)

BTW, the air mixture screws at the bottom of the carbs have a starting point of 1.25 turns out from lightly seated.
