don't have much mechanical experience with motors however is cleaning the carburetor something i could take on or best to leave to the boatyard?

Re: cleaning carburetor

It's nothing out of this world, put it back together as it was before servicing, the only issue, would need to remove air/gas screw to clean well inside passage, if engine has been running great at that given idle adjustment, with a caliper measure the height of the top screw to base, put same measurement after cleaning if you don't know how to tune engine at idle well, if correct idle rpm, leave as it is, no need to remove this crew. Consume all gas leftovers after use, keep engine on till it dies of fuel starvation.

Happy Boating
