I realize I might be over thinking this... was just looking for some thoughts.

I have a 20' C/C and want to clean the inside of the console. I need to run a transducer cable and been meaning to clean the console anyway... See pics, there is some mild mildew.

I'm tempted to blast it with mildew cleaner, let it do its job and hose it all down... but the only way for all the water out would be the "pvc cable tubes" (not sure the tech word for them) that carry all the cables to the motor. In my case, they exit in the rear at the bidge, which is accessable via hatch. Is it a bad idea to have all that water/chemicals go out that way, in the tubes with all the wires?

The console gets random water through cup holders/rod holders already... but nothing like a direct hose and gushing water.

My other thought, was to spray and wipe it off by hand... like I said, I might be over thinking this... regardless, I always wondered how water should be going through those conduits. Thinking, it has to pool up from time to time in places...

NOTE: I have 2 pipes, that are about 2 inches each. One if half way under the oil tank.

Last question... I have alot of space in 1 of the tubes for my transducer run, but its also the same tube that carries the 4awg power cables... I'm thinking this would pick up interference? Or can I run in the same tube?

Thanks,

The mildew "chemicals" you are worried about consist of bleach and water.... Pretty harmless.....

Running your transducer wiring along your power cables IMHO isn't the best idea.

Go ahead and clean and flush with plenty of water and boat on. It isn't going to be any issue if you rinse with water... Most wire jackets/insulations are impervious to chemicals and fuel/oils and such... JMHO!

Sweet... I had a feeling the chemicals wouldnt be that bad as long as a flushed good with the water, I just started to 2nd guess at the thought of all the water gushing in the tubes with all the wires. I'll just jack the trailer up high, to help drain better for afew days.

Thanks again for the insights...

I put Clorox Bleach in a spray bottle and apply a mist onto the mildew....leave on a few moments or brush lightly and rinse with fresh water....works like a charm, won't hurt anything....

I just did the same.Spray light mist of bleach with spray bottle for 2 consecutive days.If Clorox, dont use the "new concentrated" type.Using plain old Clorox use a 50/50 solution cut with water. If using store brand cut with 25% water and if using "Dollar store" bleach then use full strength.Charlie
