cleaning motor w/o harming it.

I have alittle of what looks like back wash residue and oil mixed on the bottom of the motor body and I want to properly wash it out. Please direct me in the correct way of doing this w/o harming anything under the hood, motor or electrical. Thanks in advance.

Use any degreaser and an old paint brush. Follow with water and WD40 or what ever you like. For the outside any good auto or marine wax.
