I am sure its just me but I keep mine on a slip, and drag it off ever 6 to 10 weeks over the summer to clean it up and I pull it through a car wash and pressure wash the carpet. Just wondering what others do. Its home right now for the first cleaning lol dropped a tub of chicken liver on it a few weeks ago so it needed it bad.

Re: cleaning the carpet

I was debating on how to handle this too....i had thought of using scotch guard on the whole thing but people said it's and outdoor carpet and designed to not hold stains and that the scotchguard would just wash off in the rain.
I installed a brand new carpet and was worried about grease from the grill spilling on it...as well as people dropping food and drink.
I would think a car wash power washer might be rough on the carpet and shorten it's life. Maybe just some soap and water and a scrub brush and hose it off instead?

Re: cleaning the carpet

I used a home carpet shampooer and utilized the hand nozzle to get into small areas. I do not know if this is proper so please check your boat manual before knowing it is safe to do so.

Its all nice and clean again and back on the slip and I believe summer is about to go into high gear. I have used a car wash for many years and my marina offers a cleaning service and that's what they use.

Re: cleaning the carpet

I have a small boat repair business. I clean the carpets on 68 pontoons once a year. I use a pressure washer with a fan nozzel. I hold this above the carpet so that the fan is about three to four inches wide when it contacts the carpet. After spraying every inch of the floor I suck it dry with a shop vac. Customers are always happy and there is very little green growth by the end of the (rather short) three months of bad sledding (summer). End May-Early Sept.
