Recently my oil reservoir cap busted out and spilled oil all in the top of my engine. What is the best way to clean it out other than sopping it out with a rag? Most of it has drained, but I still have a small puddle even at full tilt.

Re: cleaning the inside of an outboard

Hi, I am not the one with the answer. This is what NOT to do! I used gunk and water to clean the inside of my 9.9 kicker. It never ran again????? And I did everything to it to get it going. I sold it as parts. So don't use gunk and water!
As a thought is this a Merk or JohnyRude. I have never heard of a JohnyRude oil tank splitting.
I see Merks split all the time. Just looking for the first story of one?
steve
