Cleaning up my hard drive

I downloaded, unzipped, and installed some programs from the unzipped folder thanks to LimeWire. Before I screw things up, I wanted to make sure. Once the program is up and running, I can delete the zipped download and the unzipped files, correct? Just as long as I leave the installed program alone?

[colour=blue]Um, the unzipped files ARE the installed program, no?

Re: Cleaning up my hard drive

The file comes zipped (compressed) into the downloads folder, then I unzip (decompress) into the unzipped folder, then install from the unzipped folder using the install or setup file. I assumed that once installed, the compressed and decompressed installation files become unnecessary and just occupy valuable space.

And now that my CD burner is up and running thanks to much appreciated help, I put the zipped download on a CD for possible future use and/or back-up.

Many thanks. :)

Yep, delete away. You may want to empty the temp folders as well.
