I have a boat that is approx 1 month old. This weekend a friend came with me and drove the boat for approx 1 hr. He was wearing a red swim suit and i guess the dye came out of it and turned my seat a pink tint. I have tried sunscreen, scrubbing bubbles and even some stuff my dad had he is a carpet cleaner with no luck. Please help with any ideas.

Re: Cleaning Vinyl

Possibly soft scrub with bleach.....we've used it and works good...just make sure to rinse it off good.

Caution with the bleach or anything that contains bleach. It can damage the thread that the cushions are stitched with. Be sure to rinse well.

Re: Cleaning Vinyl

Back when I cleaned pontoon boats at a local marina, we used Starbrite Mildew stain remover on any stined vinal. But we didn't use it as it says on the bottle. We would spray it on the srat till it was very wet and let it dry in the sun. then would wipe the seat with a wet rag a few times to clean it off... It would clean the nastyest seats and make them look like new.

Side note... It will ruin shirts and pants... but it never messed up the carpet in these boats.

Re: Cleaning Vinyl

bleach is bad for vinyl, i'd only use it on old seats and as a last resort. armor all is bad too.

have you checked with the manufacturer of your boat? they sometimes have recommended products that they've 'tested.'

i'd go with mr. clean eraser and whatever's left gets some quality time in the sun. consider wiping it down with 303 protectant for UV protection after the scrubbing.

Re: Cleaning Vinyl

I had exc. results with Tilex Mold and Mildew Remover, scrubbed with Mr. Clean Eraser.
Took out stains that Starbrite didn't, including some stains from the mooring cover on the tops of the seat backs.

Dampen a rag with lacquer thinner....the miracle liquid. The third most important liquid on earth....behind water and beer.
I'll bet your stain wipes right off. It evaporates very quickly too.
