have 87 90 hp Johnson, new bulp and all gas lines including the little fellows from the choke solenoid to top of carbs.

Have gas going to solenoid, it clicks when I push and turn key, but no gas from the little hoses.

The ignition switch was replaced, could the wires be backwards in the ignition switch causing the plunger to go in the wrong direction, like a starter when the neg and pos are reversed?

Thanks!

The solenoid is not a pump. It is merely a valve, operated by the solenoid. It ONLY lets fuel through when the fuel system has been pressurized, either through squeezing the bulb or when the motor is spinning over and the fuel pump is pumping. Simply pushing the key in will not get you any fuel out the lines, UNLESS you're squeezing the fuel bulb (or if you have just squeezed it and the system has some positive pressure).

when i said turned key should have been more specific, Pump bulb, spin over no gas coming out of it, gas going in and will shoot all over the place when inlet line is disconected from solenoid, put it back on, pump bulb, spin it over while pushin in key, it clicks, but nothing coming out.

As stated above, the fuel system has to be pressurized to work properly, if you remove the hoses going to the carbs, have someone pump the primer bulb up firm while you energize the choke. If you get no fuel flow, you might need a new solenoid even though it clicks. You can take the solenoid apart and see if there is some trash in the fuel side of the solenoid. You do have the red lever back over the solenoid body in the auto postion don't you?

Take the solenoid apart and see what you find.

Thanks every one, I took it apart and all is fine, nice and clean.

Pumping ball while turning over the motor and pushing in key while tilting my head sideways had no results, so I am guessing the solenoid itself is bad.

Thanks Again!

These primer solenoids are very well made.---Look for blockage of lines going to the primer.--Remove a drain screw from one of the carburetors.---When squeezing the bulb does fuel now keep pouring out of that drain.--Some simple testing is needed here.

Assuming the electric primer is in the auto position....since you have fuel to the inlet of the primer as stated in post #4..... turn the red lever 180 degress counter clock wise remove the discharge lines from the primer and squeeze the fuel bulb on the fuel line.... fuel should squirt out, if not it is plugged up inside.... the electric primer portion does not contact the fuel it only moves a pin inside up and down to allow fuel to pass through the top portion of the valve ( where the red lever is) Post #8 states you took it apart and clean, did you squirt cleaner or push a wire through the small nipples on the side to ensure they were not plugged?

I had a primer solenoid get so hot once that the internal body of the solenoid slid out the bottom of the black plastic housing. It slid down about 3/8" and as a result, it clicked fine, but didn't actuate the valve mechanism in the cap.

It got hot because the owner's captain's chair rotated on it's pedestal, pushed the key on and in and held it there for some period of time.
The way the solenoid was mounted, the innards just slid down and out.
