Closed Cabin Runabout?

I Have been on a search recently for a Smaller Runabout for use on Medium Sized Lakes, Around the size of Lake Chautauqua or any of the Finger Lakes. So far my search has included runabouts of all types but I have run into a roadblock, I love the look of a closed bow where the only seating is in the back. The Open bow and Cuddy Cabin are the only types I have run into. Im not against these types of boats just looking for something else. Basically I am looking for a Closed Bow Runabout with a fair bit of power. I would love it to be an I/O type but it is not a deal breaker. Does anybody have any boat recommendations or a website with a search feature. The age of the boat does not matter.

runabout denotes small, used for short trips
closed cabin is a bit larger used for over-nights
fair bit of power could mean 50hp or 5000hp.

so, first, how many people?
how many sleeping?
how big are you looking?
budget?

plenty of mid-cabin bow riders and even a few cuddys. plenty of pocket cruisers as well.

My Bad I will have to change my original post, I meant Closed bow, I have cabin on the mind after renting one on Seneca Lake.
6 to 8 people
Anything from 15-25 Feet
Up to 15,000 Dollars Used
I am not positive about the Horse Power something with enough to Lift a Skier and run at about 45/50 mph

Since you mentioned Lake Chautauqua I assume your in WNY . There are a ton of boats listed on Craigslist. Buffalo/Rochester/Finger Lakes/Chautauqua/Erie /Syracuse. If you cant find one in those 6 locations I would be totally dumbfounded.

I have found a few but I am still a novice when it comes to boating and was wondering if anybody on here would have a recommendation on the closed bow boats, I dont want to rope myself into a bigger money pit than I have to

Formula 260SS

for an older/less expensive option . . . Formula 242SS

You’re welcome :)

1988 242LS for 8,000 and a 1988 242LS big block with engine work, as in hopped up,probably a lot more than you need, for 12,000 both in Buffalo's Craiglist. Both look great in the pictures and both overpriced a bit, wrong time of the year to low ball people.

Closed bow boats are passe'. If you find one it'll be very old and probably not a keeper. Cuddies are still in production, but then you lose a lot of cackpit space in favor of the "sleeping" accommodations.

Two of my boating buddies recently got rid of their cuddies in favor of bowriders because of the better use of space.

You have to decide what you want.

Jim is right. Closed-bow runabouts used to be a dime a dozen, no one makes them anymore as far as I know. There are still quite a few around, though. Not too many I/O versions.

I hope you are enjoying/enjoyed "my" lake! Seneca can get pretty choppy in a hurry so look for a boat with decent freeboard and deadrise. I think my next boat will be a dual console model.

Cobalt made some nice cuddly cabins in the late 90s and early 2000s I haven't looked at their current lineup, and I don't know your budget, but I would also include them. Look into some of their catalogs from that era and you'll find which ones fit what you're looking for.
