Gentlemen, I replaced the fuel pump on my 1988 cobra. Due to rusted bolts I could only remove the old pump and had to work from there. In order to keep the push rod up after trying several differant techniques that did not work I used a small amount of plumbers putty to hold it up untill I could get the new pump on. I did put a spot of grease on the rod end and pump lever end. I then started the motor and it seemed to run fine. I now worry about that small amount of putty in the system. Do you think it will affect any parts of the oiling system or just dissolve in the oil? Thanks
