cobra conversion kit to Alpha one genII

I found this conversion kit by accident while searching for an OMC manual. I was wondering if anyone out there has actually used this kit and made this conversion??? I found a couple kits in ebay which include drive and kit etc. for a little more than 2K... Sounds like an option for all those posts asking about switching out the Cobra drive. My Cobra still works great, but should I ever need to replace the costs are pretty attractive with this swap kit.

Yes, my nephew and my brother designed this kit. Placed it on his Four Winns, then sold the patent to SEI. He then became one of their beta testers for the production kit prior to it's release. To my knowledge he has had no issues and this boat stays in the water all season.

I'm the nephew in this particular equation (hi chuck!).

We've done a lot of testing with a couple different revisions of the kit and it's easily as durable as either the Cobra or Alpha factory rigs. The original conversion was done on a Four Winns Vista 245, which is a heavy old tank. We've not had a single kit-related failure from the original proof-of-concept parts to the current production pieces. We did melt a set of gears in an old R drive, but it was the wrong ratio and held out longer than we thought it would...

The materials that SEI chose are top notch and the price/warranty is the best you can buy. I've worked with Justin at SEI quite a bit over the past year or so and they have their act together.

Just to disclose - I don't make a cent unless you buy the kit from me and I don't work for SEI, Brunswick, OMC, Bombardier, et al... I'm just a tightwad who ran with a crazy idea (with the help of a crazy uncle (or two)).
