Cobra pinion gear

Hi, I've taken apart my 5.7 Cobra Drive. My question is the lower pinion gear. I've taken off the pinion nut however I can't get the pinion gear off the lower drive shaft. I've tried gently prying with a long screw driver with no luck. Does anyone know a simpler way with breaking out the blow torch.

Put the pinion nut flush with the end of the drive shaft. Then Take the prop shaft and hit it toward the top of the cavation plate. I use my hand with a fast pop. It works every time. Then remove the nut and pull the drive shaft out.
