Hello all,

Boat was in water about 5 months and cruised 15hrs.
During winterizing my '89 Cobra i noticed that outdrive had about 1,5 fl oz water in oil. Oil was green, a bit lighter than new oil, had no milkshake. Performed 15psi pressure test and it leaks from pump shaft. Leak was really small. After 10 minutes pressure gage was still on 15psi.

What do you think, should I repair it or not?

Found video of removing water pump adapter plate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0JnEUiT8Z8
Is this the best way to pull plate off?

Repair it now, If you wait, it could cost you much more than a simple seal. Drives are not cheap. looks like a good way to remove the plate, I've had luck just putting the bolts in a few threads and pulling it out with the help of a block of wood and a pry bar, but they were not corroded in.

Good video.
In the video the guy was using a thread "cleaner" not a tap.
The plate is soft aluminum or he wouldn't have had luck tapping the holes.
You would need a bottom tap to do the cutting.

Very easy to replace that seal. Undo 4 bolts, remove the U-Joints with gear ( use a hammer and piece of wood to tap impeller shaft to get it out) one it is out, take a screw driver and push the seal from outside, to install use a regular socket (i believe 10mm ) with an extension to push the new seal in. Takes about 15 min to do...
