Hello, I ran into a funny problem. I was moving slowly w/ my 35 outboard then when to w.o.t. (wide open throttle) the thing bogged down and according to GPS only went 7mph at w.o.t. Normal cruise is 20mph w.o.t.
So i changed plugs from autolight auto equivelints to marine app. plugs it ran fine.
Tried old plugs that worked for a year same slow go.
replaced plug wires, no change.Thats whe i noticed the bases of my coils cracked. so i cleaned up posts on coil and still no change ran on marine plugs not auto plugs.(mind you I've been running automotive plugs in it for the last year and no problems till now.) So in browsing the pages i see other have cracked coils and they recomend sealing with a electrical silicone.
anyone done that and had good/bad results or have coils worked fine?
by the way i poured the fuel out of the tank i ran on last and compared it to the other tank, way darker and fat on 2cycle mix, consiquence from never quite being able to empty tank completely, now i empty tank into a gal jug for weedeater, blower etc and always start with a empty gas tank for my mixed fuel.
But need relpys on either fixed coils or not fixed coils lifes, Long or short or still working?
Sorry about being so windy, the problems are so small sometimes we overlook the simple stuff.

Seaking 35 :)

I can't answer all your questions, but it sounds like maybe the fuel filter is clogging on you. Especially if you have been manipulating your gas tank alot, you may have dislodged some crud from the bottom that has gotten into your filter and restricted fuel flow.

An easy test for this would be to pump the fuel line while running the motor to see if it makes a difference.

Good luck!

Hi, SeaKing.

Don't run 50:1 with TC-W3 in your weedeater, etc. unless you want to replace them. Weedeaters want 16:1 with chainsaw or Weedeater oil, which is formulated for high revving air cooled engines. TC-W3 is for water cooled engines.

What model 35hp engine do you have? If it was made by Chrysler this is an okay place for your post, but otherwise I will need to move it to the Other Outboards Forum.

Let us know. :)

Re: Coil Cracking (Normal)?

hey the boat ran great, could have been a combo of bad gas bad plugs. I never was a fan of Champion PLugs anyway. Yes, my 35hp Seaking by Montgomery wards is a chrysler outboard model #vwb 52035.
In reguards to fuel filter thanks, but no i checked and the filter is a small screen mesh and clear as a bell, no obstruction. I'm also going to replace points and condencer under flywheel since thouse have been on since 1975,never changed or checked. So for now it runs just like it has the last three years, like a top.
just wish the Chinook's were bitting better..
CYA Seaking 35
