I've got an 88' Mercruiser 120hp .....changed the plugs the other day....ran great in the yard....launched it yesterday and had a hard time starting it...when it finally started it ran for about a minute and stalled.....tried in vane but it would'nt restart.....even starting fluid would'nt do the trick...the coil was hot as hell and the only spark I got was very small and yellow..... got any ideas ?

Re: Coil Fried ???

get a new coil. Afterwards, check the voltage at the coil, if the ballast resistor is not dropping the voltage, it will fry coils. You should have 8-9v

Remember, that resistor is in the main harness of this engine and not visible externally. It is there.
