Any of you guys know what voltage I should be seeing at my coil. It's a 1971, 6 cylinder, 165hp Merc. My coil is getting hot and cutting the engine after 20 mins running. If I change the coil for a cold one the engine starts again. Yes I have been thru all the fuel side, including the tank breather and thats and thats all OK. It is the coil thats at fault. The coil is mounted to the side of the block, so the coil temperture is heat soak or too high a voltage.
