:confused:Ok here is the problem, I keep on shorting out the coil on my 87 Bayliner w ith a 3.0 OMC. This will be the 3rd one now. Anyone have any ideas on why? Getting a little bit to expensive to keep changing them.

Re: Coil?

The coil your using does it say "Internal resistor" or "Use External resistor"
soudns like the voltage is a little hot going to the coil.

Re: Coil?

Is there an echo in here tonight ??????
Like 180 mentioned, check your wires ------ SPARK PLUG Wires that is.
A wire that is open or has high resistance will crack a coil tower in short order.
Could also be a bad spark plug or distributor cap.
How long since a full tuneup and/or new plug wires?
