coil

I Have a 85 chris craft with a inline 4 140hp<br />Im a little new to the boat area Ive owned the boat for 2 years now all summer it runs great but in the spring after a long winter it wont start everytime it was a bad coil I ve replaced it with a new 1 but the next year i have to replace it again any ideas ? Thanks

did you use a marine coil an auto coil can fail in a matter of weeks .the only other thing is depending on the boat there is a resitor before the coil that lowers the volts to around 8 more or less if it is bad or someone removed it it could also make the coil fail<br /><br />tommays
