GEEESH !! I have cornered the market on NAPA coils. Another day out another "hot" coil...running pertronix pointles ign system ,228 mercruiser (305 GM) 12v to coil from switch running or off (replaced resistor wire) went and got a coil supposed to have been 1.5-3.5 internal restance. Ran great for about 20 mins @2800rpm ....3g's and up seems to be the breaking point. Is there any way the stall (interupt) switch could be causing this ...using a timing light (riding in the whole /with son @ the wheel) when i get him to bump it up to the 3000rpm point,it starts breaking up intermitting fire at plugs runs fine till i hit the 3 grand mark...coils is very hot at this point...and will start breaking up at all rpm ranges ,till it won't fire at all...I know i should be using the flame thrower, w/summer going by so quick, i just run down to napa assuming they know now what i needed ,when i told them 1.5 internal resisted ...when i first put pertronix in , it ran great with the stock coil i already had in it for 2 1/2 yrs (not knowing about the internal resistor stuff ) could the pertronix be faughty now after 5 different coils ?? Man i am $$$ out on the coil thing. chief tech at local shop mentioned something about interrupter switch...I know I'm wearing this issue out ....but time is running out and so are the fish !!
