I have a 1989 Evinrude V6, model number E150TXCEM.

The throtle has a bar on it that I thought was the choke, but have heard it is a high idle bar. The key on the unit pushes in, but I don't need to push the key in the turn it and start the engine.

Currently I prime the ball, have the idle bar up and turn the key without pushing it in. When the motor catches, I lower the bar slowly and off I go. Trouble is, the motor is very hard to start and I thought I may be missing something.

Can someone help my out with a cold start procedure?

that is a warmup leaver . hold the choke in on the key while turnning . it should crank easley . the inline bulb onley puts fuel in the carb. bowl. some times the warmup leaver needs to be up a little . you will have to learn where is best . usealey it will crank with choke and turnning when cold .

If you have a hot-footthe fast idle bar has been disconnected and wont have any effect.
