I know I want a new fishfinder. I know I want color. I thought I wanted gps built in to it but after reading all the posts am getting more confused by the moment. I have a handheld Garmin III. I really do not have room for a seperate gps unit in my 18 foot basstracker. Most of my fishing is done in 25 foot of water of less. I am never in salt water. I thought I had boiled it down to the, I hate to say it after all the posts I have read, Humminbird Matrix 97 or Lowrance LMS330c. Has anyone have any personal experience with either? I am really confused and need help as soon as possible. I would like to own a new one by Monday of next week as I am getting ready to go on a fishin trip. Thanks again for all the help.

Re: Color fish finder with or without gps

I have the Lowrance X18C and am very pleased with it. I am sure someone with extensive sonar experience can read a black and white display just fine. However, the color display takes things up a notch for someone that doesn't have all that experience by identifying structure composition with color.

The LMS are nice units and keep things fairly simple and compact where real estate for electronics is an issue.

As far as the GPS goes, depends on the kind of fishing you anticipate. If you are sight fishing then the GPS may not play as big of a role but if you are trolling it can help mark productive spots to anticipate hook ups.

Kevin
