I REALLY need some help to wire my late seventies 2 cyl Mariner 48 (Yamaha 55).
The connection kit is long gone, and I´m changing all cables in the boat. It was a nasty mess ... worst I´ve ever seen.

Well. Red is fuse protected +
Black is ground
But what about the other cables?
? to black ? is kill switch?
? to black (?) is choke?
yellow to ? is ingition?
and white ? to ? is starter solenoid?
Can anyone help?

Re: Colour codes Mariner/Yamaha - HELP

On my 86 40hp yamaha outboard

Solid Red is direct +12v from bat (fused)
solid Green = TAC
solid yellow= switched on (KEY) +12volts
solid black= ground
solod Pink= water Temp signal

most standard wiring charts dont apply to older boats/engines so be carefull

I have to look to see what the other stuff is, Im alittle confused on your post.

Hope that helps somehow. A multimeter (15 bucks at wallmart) is a excellent way to find out this stuff. Just put one lead to ground and figure out what happens when you do something like turn the key. If neg (com) its on black its all good you sould be in no danger of shorting out anything.
With out the batt set the meter to ohms or if it has a beep circut (beeps when both leads touch each other) use that. with batt use the dc 10-20 volt range-- good luck
