Just got an email that Comcast (my cable supplier) is offering for free, 2 gb of online backup. Any opinions here? Sounds pretty good to me.

I do perform periodic copy and paste backups to an external hard drive but this seems like it would be some additional insurance.

Think of how long it will take you to upload and save and how long it will take to download if you need it.

Now think of a couple of 2GB flash drives. Pretty cheap and a lot faster to save to.

Two suggestions - get at least 2 and rotate them so you can have 2 versions and keep one off site.

I don't think 2 GB is big enough for a complete back up. I switched over to the New Norton System Comcast is going to and it takes some getting use to. It automatically sets sit for weekly back up. I started doing mine on regular CD's and after 2, I decided against doing that. I have thought about get something like suggested below. They also give you an option for DVD and says 1 is enough to d o it on. I don' thing I have a DVD burner on my computer though. After consider amount of fooling around, I just turned off that portion of the system.
It is definitely a good service, 1st week of use it stopped and quarantined a virus trying to come aboard my computer.
