The original panel mount Quicksilver Commander on my boat has some slop in it that leaves me wanting to replace it. Are the throws the same from 1991 as they are on current remotes? I'm thinking of a Commander 4000 gen 2 unit as a replacement.

I ask because the newer engines have the side mounted shift bracket whereas mine mounts flat on top of the engine. Just not sure all the same dimensions carried over.

Thanks in advance!

No expert here with the remotes but the amount a movement needed to change gears has not changed. I wouldn't have an issue with buying a new one so long as it indicated it would work with my drive. Everything else should be able to be adjusted to meet specs
