So now the things about to go DOA on me!
Windows does not start unless you go into the asus mother board splash screen and into the bios where it just hangs, and when it does start it is so slow

Could this be a hard drive issue or a power supply issue or software issue?

Previous issue
I have found that I have needed to restart my puter every morning lately as the brouser will not open???
Temp int files cleaned out, and now the puter when on this site will kick over compatibillity view, any ideas?

I have no idea what would cause the browser to stop loading. You may be infected with something. I would run a virus scan.

The compatibility settings can be controlled thru the tools/options, I bet compatibility mode is enabled for this website.

This is a PITA, compatability mode, its in its out.
Then there is the issue were I have to hit the refresh when I open the iboat site or the site cant be found/opened.
No known virus issues, old unit could there be a issue with the software degrading?
Any ideas?

Have you picked a restore point before the problems? Sometimes that's the easiest solution.

What operating system, what version, last update number, what browser and version, sounds like something has updated and created a compatibility situation, and you might new to uninstall part of the update. I had it happen the other day on a .net framework update.

What browser are you using? Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer? Etc. And what version number. Just need to get a little insight as to what you are running, before I can start really looking as to what has happened to you.

OK...provided you haven't done anything wonky, you should have a "My Computer" icon on your desktop. If you right click it using the right mouse button, a popup box should appear with a number of choices. Left click, using the left mouse button on "Properties".

On the window that pops up, you'll see a listing for System. It'll say something similar to:

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

This will get you the version of Windows. IF you have automatic updates turned on, and always install what Microsoft tells you to, then you're more than likely running Internet Explorer version 8 as that's the last version that installs on XP. If you're not using Internet Explorer, then what do you click on in order to view this webpage (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc)?

That's what we're driving at :)

To get the version of Internet Explorer, you need to Open Internet Explorer, go to Help, and select About Internet Explorer. A new popup should appear and it will say something like:

Microsoft
Internet Explorer 8

Going off what you've been describing thus far, I bet you find you're at version 8 (last that will install on Windows XP). You may need to remove this site from your compatibility view list. To do so, simply select Tools and then Compatibility View settings. If you see any mention of iboats, simply highlight the name by single clicking on it, and then click the Remove button. If you're prompted if you want to remove, simply click OK/Yes/Continue/Whatnot. Then close and reopen Internet Explorer.

But since you're running Windows XP which is a dead Operating System (Microsoft drops all support officially April '14) you might want to consider upgrading to Windows 7 OR buying a new PC. Another alternative if you don't want to upgrade, is to use a 3rd party browser such as Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, etc.

Re: Compatibillity views kickinging in?

You know whats kinda funny, restarted this POC this morning because it was running slow and it did a windows update, 8 of them!
And have not seen the compatability flag come up and kick me over, WTH??

Fixed, problem solved?

Now why is the curser arrow having the hour glass icon pop up beside it intermitently?

Thanks Guys

Rob, is this a laptop?

I am starting to think you have a memory problem. It definitely sounds like there is a hardware issue in your machine, you might go to the Asus website and see if they have issued any bio updates for your particular machine.

Re: Compatibillity views kickinging in?

MTBG, this is just an old floor tower.
Whats weird is the only time it kicks into compatabillity mode is iboats??? is that because the adds keep changing?

But the big issue is the puter just will not get out of the Asus start page and jump into XP mode.

Will have a look at the Asus updates if there are any.

Thanks

Re: Compatibillity views kickinging in?

Pick up a CR2032 battery and replace the bios battery in the machine, I know I have had computers that do all kinds of weird things with this battery starts getting weak. It is real easy to do, just open the case up, look on the mother board and you will see it in a small socket, it is a little smaller than an US quarter and can make all of the difference in the world. When you change the battery, it will also reset the bios, which often times will clear up problems.
